Congrats Katie! She's *beautiful*!!! I'm glad you're happy with your decisions and that she got to cook as long as she did! What a beauty!

:LOL, not quite the same dignified announcement that Charlie got, eh? She is a little beauty! Congratulations to you and your family! Glad that the trial of labor helped. I was thinking that it seems like more trouble than it's worth, but I hadn't thought of it as being a benefit. Good to remember!

I've been lurking here for a couple weeks, and thought I should delurk.

I'm Linda, due with our 2nd baby on 11.14.03. They think it's a little girl, and we plan to name her Marissa Ruth.

Our first daughter, Ana Simone, was born on 5.6.02, so they'll be about 18 months apart. So far, this pregnancy has been a bit like the last one, except that I'm not working and I don't get as tired or as much heartburn. I have PCOS and am hypothyroid, so we've had some little concerns along the way. But so far, so good. My GTT came back fine and I'm doing well on thyroid meds.

Ana was augmented for labor at 41 weeks. I consented to an u/s on that day, and they found very low amniotic fluid. I was 5 cm and fully effaced (and hadn't really gone into "labor"), my OB recommended augmentation. I was able to get through pitocin w/o an epidural, but I did end up with an episiotomy.

This time, we are planning a birth center delivery with a fabulous group of midwives, and I am considering hiring a doula. I should probably get moving on that.

Nice to see such a nice group of plus-size mommies. Happy Health to all!

kaje62 - your little girl is gorgeous! Congratulations.

Anything going on lately?

I must have some hormonal stuff going on. I just broke down crying because of some dumb little reason.

Amy,

Sorry to hear you're weepy. You are so close. That's got to have something to do with it.

Do you have any plans for induction or are you waiting for nature to take it's course? I have been very bummed about the idea of induction myself, but now that it's coming down to the wire, I'm so happy to have a date (9/18). Still, I'm crossing my fingers for my body to kick in on its own. The last two mornings I've been woken up by some fairly painful ctx. I hope, hope, hope, they're doing something...

My doula keeps telling me that this is the time to nurture myself, which I seem to find nearly impossible (no time to nurture with only ten days left). But maybe you've got the time... Hope you feel better!

No induction here. I want to avoid all of that stuff. My doctor tried to induce me on my due date with my first, and I cancelled it. She was really pushing the c-section idea. Ugh. The last thing a person like me with a lot of belly fat wants is an incision in it. I will admit that while I'm not happy with the whole hospital birth scenario, this doctor seems more laid back so far.

I feel like I might go earlier this time, but I'm not sure why. It probably won't happen, I'll just wish it did. My groin hurts now, darn it!

Oh yeah, sending labor vibes your way!!! Hopefully you can avoid an induction by going on your own.

PAM IS IN LABOR
pam (Granny's Ark or apmamaoftwins) just called me....

SHE'S HAVING THE BABY!!!

she went for her Biophysical profile and appointment, and for various reason they decided that it was best to induce her tonight. (nothing wrong, just being cautious i think) They started her on Pitocin and she is waiting around for something to happen... so tonight or tommorrow little mason will be HERE! Wish her easy labor vibes and that she gets to have the VBAC she wants. If you have a pending order with her, please be paitent..she's a little tied up for a few days

Found updates

Amywillow
I had my daughter, Jessie, on Sunday at home. She weighed 11 lbs 6 ozs and was 24.5" long, although I think she is a little shorter than that actually. I wasn't sure if I could actually do a homebirth, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to if there was meconium in the water. As it turns out my water broke, there was meconium but I elected to stay at home and things went well. I know that if I had gone to the hospital I would have had the epidural, and was even thinking that. I remember telling my doula at one point that this whole natural birth thing was for the birds. LOL I was so happy it was over, but even a few hours later things had faded enought that I was thinking "Hey, that wasn't so bad." It was totally worth it too! My first daughter was taken away to be suctioned because of meconium and by the time I got to hold her she was a washed and wrapped bundle. Getting to hold her fresh from the womb, still attached to the placenta inside of me was incredible, and I got to cut the cord myself. I was happy to be home after it was all over with because my bed was so much more comfortable, and the baby slept well. Anyway, just thought I'd share my news since I hadn't officially announced it anywhere.

My first child, Milo, was born on sept 14th by c-section (after 26 1/2 hours labor and pushing, ugh)

hi,
i thought i'd join this thread. i'm fat and pregnant and happy with both right now...i gained 25 lbs with ds and never lost it, despite eating well and bf. o well, now i'm bigger, and will worry about losing all the weight when i'm done having babies. that way i'll get some use out of those expensive plus size clothes, right, lol.

OMG Kathy-Jo, I am in near hysterics after seeing the update post for me and Amywillow. lol If anyone out there is trying to decide between a hospital and a home birth, they should be shown that post. I am so jealous that Amy go to hold her baby with all the gooy stuff still on her. But, just the same I was and am quite happy with the way my birth experience went all things considered (I'm a type I diabetic and was induced at 38w7d because my bp was a little high and I had a +1 urine protein). I don't think there is anything more miraculous feeling than hearing that first cry, which I did. Thank god they didn't knock me out...
