I'm wondering if I should get an enema at the hospital. (I know, I should have thought about it a long time ago: )
I didn't have one with dd1, but since then, I've heard it can help things go faster.
Any advice?
If not, just good labor vibes will be greatly appreciated

Good labor and birth to you! Sorry, but I don’t actually know anything about the benefits of enema used during labor. How nice to be giving birth right now! I’m jealous…

First birth had one (an Ontario hospital, by the way), second birth did not have one. Did not really notice a difference in the labour. Was much happier not to deal with that though at an already physically challenging time!

Good luck to you!

Unles you're particularly fond of enema's, I would say no. Usually you're body will empty out what it needs to, and I believe the routine administration of eneme's is more for the advantage of the hospital staff than the mother to be.
Good luck though!

I had one with my first and labored for 15 hours until he was born and it didn't stop anything from coming out during pushing : I didn't with the second and had a 5 hour labor.

This probably had more to do with the fact that it was the second time around and I had no drugs and actually knew well enough to stay up and moving around during labor instead of being flat on my back, but still....

I wouldn't do an enema again..not fun

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to y'all for responding quickly. I didn't get the enema (I was contracting every 2 min when I got to the hospital )
What I did get is a wonderfull baby girl that we named Marie Élisabeth. She was 55cm and 8 lb 5 oz. She arrived 2 1/2 hours after we got there.
More to come later.
