--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all. Well I am 21 weeks and have been taking Benadryl some to help me sleep. I bought childrens liquid benadryl and will usually just take 12.5 mg, sometimes 25 mg. I hate to take it too much, but there are times when it seems like im just not going to sleep otherwise. Anyway, I am wondering if anyone knows about using benadryl in the third trimester. Is this safe? Is there a risk of dependency for the baby or any other risks? My OB says benadryl is perfectly safe, though I havent talked to him about using it in the third trimester... Any advice on this? Thanks!

Have you tried a calcium/magnesium supplement before bed instead? I would be hesitant to take pharmaceuticals for sleep before trying more natural methods first. Pregnancy insomnia is no picnic, I hope things even out for you soon!

I have tried something called natural calm which is a powdered magnesium supplement.. I dont think it did much, but I suppose I could try it again..

Benadryl is on my safe list too and the dr says its fine, but I hate taking it too much

If anyone has anymore suggestions on natural ways to get some sleep, I am glad to hear them!

Thanks

Jen

Benedryl is on the safe list... but I would still be hesatant about taking it.

I take a liquid cal/mag supplement and it works really well for sleep. I tried the powder and the capsules and they didn't work... I take 2 TBS of the liquid before bed.
