What poses do you avoid while pregnant? Some instructors and books recommend avoiding shoulder stands after the first trimester and others say it's fine. This is true of other poses as well. Some say do while others say don't. What's the deal? I have been avoiding shoulder stands and I miss doing them. Hmmm:

my book shows fully pregnant women doing the scorpion (a handstand variation) of course these women have lots of experience i'm sure.

It's called, "The Sivananda COmpanion to Yoga" by the sivananda yoga center

Kerry, in my training I was taught to avoid any of the inverted asanas (shoulderstands, headstands, scorpion, etc.) during pregnancy, as well as any that involve twisting of the abdomen, which you probably already know .

I have been avoiding inverted poses and twists. I have been going to my regular yoga classes and I just do a different pose when everyone else is doing something I should avoid. But for some reason, I long to do shoulder stands and plow pose.

Any opinions on wheel, upward bow pose, or backbend (whatever you want to call it)?
