I know there is a remedy to put olive oil and tea tree oil on a tampon and insert it to prevent GBS but what about making a tea tree oil wash with part TTO and part water? Would it work to take the wash and squat in the shower and pour the solution over your vagina?

Also is using a syringe filled with yogurt safe to insert and squeeze out into the vagina safe while pregnant?

I just tested positive for GBS. I would be interested in others thoughts on this.

I can't find that post about what the different abbreviations stand for. What's GBS?

GBS stands for Group B Strep or Group B streptococcus.

I'd be interested in knowing more about this as well.

So this is sort of a bump.

Just a thought, tea tree oil, even super diluted can be very, very irritating to the vulva and vagina (burns!). I've tried some homemade suppositories for yeast that were calendula w/a very small amount of tea tree oil, plus other washes (even just a general body wash w/tea tree), and it always burns my skin and leaves me raw and irritated down there. So, I never use anything w/tea tree anywhere near my private parts now.

Obviously, that's just my personal experience--everyone is different--but just wanted to warn you just in case.

I don't understand "how" it's supposed to work, but I agree with PP - do NOT use TTO in the nether-regions! It will sting like the dickens and may cause skin to become raw. (don't ask how I know) (I do *not* know what it would do internally, but it just seems worse based on what I do know) Please research this more before you consider it - it's possible that the olive oil is a significant diluting agent, but I sure wouldn't want to risk it.

I don't know about tea tree oil specifically for GBS, but my mw (and now I) swear by a combo of lavender and tea tree oil in the panties (just a drop or two) to help get rid of and prevent yeast. Works great! Perhaps it could work similarly for GBS? Desert Essence makes a combo: http://www.drugstore.com/qxp83682_33...a_tree_oil.htm

Best of luck!

A friend of mine recommended Grapefruit Seed Extract since she used it when she was tested positive and it's more effective than tea tree oil or colloidal silver and sounds more natural. I've been reading about it and you can use it on so many things...I don't know how I lived without it! Read about it here:
