My first pregnancy was like that for both of us. We were so scared. About 3 days later when we decided to go on with the pregnancy and keep the baby, we finally started getting excited. With our 2nd pregnancy, we were both instantly happy, but shocked happy. Then with our dd, I knew, we'd been "ttc" (he didn't want to know anything, so *I* was ttc) I was thrilled, and he was like "well, there goes getting a new computer". : Men.

He'll totally come around! Of course he will, you know that.

::Congratulations Mama::

Big hugs and congratulations to you - and if DH still isn't excited, just say, offhandedly "I think this pregnancy may be an after-effect of the nail gun incident..."

OK, what is so funny to me is that there are always these threads where people don't use any form of birth control and have lots of unprotected sex and they they're SURPRISED or SHOCKED when they get pregnant.

I'm sorry, somehow it seems obvious that its going to happen to me.

Congratulations on the new addition. Hope your DH likes big families!

Dh "throb our big family.

I actually warned him about a week ago that I kept feeling a little boy around us and that I was SURE God was getting me ready for His gift of a little. : It happens everytime.

About being surprised, I guess I am always surprised because I do not take my fertility for granted for a moment. I know that at anytime I could not get pregnant again or have trouble staying pregnant.

I guess the "surprise" feeling is more of a feeling of awe and graditude

Dh is ok. He still hasn't said much (not unusually....look at my posts......I talk alot! ) But he woke up with a big smile and said good night to me long after I thought he was asleep. Sounds dorky, but that is his way of being supportive

Mamas......you will never know what this support means to me. As soon as people IRL start finding out, I will get the usually 20 questions

DOn't you know what BC is?

You know how this happens don't you?

How will you ever get time to yourself?

How will you afford them all?

YOu can't breastfeed and be pregnant you know.....

Etc. Sigh

But I am SUPER happy! :

Well, I never get that from anyone...everyone in my family seems to have a lot of kids LOL. So, they're all happy. But, DH apparently gets comments from people at work. Like he should take a class and learn about birth control...LOL.

My DH was an only child, so I'm still amazed that he's just fine with having at least 4 kiddos around here. Somehow I wouldn't be surprised if he's not done after this one either! Maybe because are kids are so good it helps LOL. If I'd popped out some like my brother's I think he would have wanted to stop at two. LOL. I think the one thing is, I think if I don't stop now having any other personal/career aspirations will be very difficult. We have no family around (they are hours away) to help, so it's all us!

I hate the questions too. DH and I get that crap all the time. We were expecting #3 and got crap from a Catholic priest that said our youngest wasn't old enough to be a big sister yet. Now that we are on #4, I dare people to say anything. I have a huge chip on my shoulder so people just don't mess with me.

First, congratulations!!!! ::: I am so happy for you. I have always loved the quote (and I don't know who said it) that "Babies are God's way of telling us that the world should go on."

When they ask you these questions, answer thus, respectively:

1. Don't you know what good manners are?

2. No, why don't you explain it to me?

3. Eventually, children do grow up, you know!

4. We'll manage.

5. Yes, I can. And I can walk and chew gum at the same time, as well.

Here's how I'd answer the questions:

Q: DOn't you know what BC is?
A: Birth control.

Q: You know how this happens don't you?
A: You have sex.

Q: How will you ever get time to yourself?
A: Children fall asleep too.

Q: How will you afford them all?
A: The same way I afforded the previous ones.

Q: YOu can't breastfeed and be pregnant you know.....
A: You clearly can't think and talk at the same time either.

Q: Don't you know what BC is?
A: British Columbia? I've seen pictures; it looks lovely. I'd like to visit. (yes, yes, I know they would actually say birth control - but in print....)

Q: You know how this happens don't you?
A: Yes and apparently we're pretty good at it. Need lessons?

Q: How will you ever get time to yourself?
A: I became a parent because I actually like parenting my children.

Q: How will you afford them all?
A: We live off the tax deductions.

Q: You can't breastfeed and be pregnant you know.....
A: Funny how I've already done it three times.

Congratulations!!! :
