What does GBS+ mean?

"The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie, deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth, persistent, persuasive and unrealistic."

Did you read it here on the boards? I don't know but might could figure it out if I knew the context of its use.

I think it's "positive for group B strep". It's something that is tested for in pregnancy. A positive can be very dangerous for the child, and it is best for the baby to be born in the sack. Antibiotics are usually administered during labor.

Does that sound like what was meant in the post in question?

I was looking through the trading post and was wondering about these:
EC (I'm guessing not Elimination Communication in this context)
PPD (again, not post partum depression here, postage something?)
FS: for sale?
FSOT: for sale or trade?
ISO - I don't have a guess for this one

Are there more that are selling/buying specific?

Thanks!
~Melissa

How 'bout

NWT
NWOT

Also in the trading post area?

Thanks!

Oh... People have created great lists throughout this thread, would it be possible for one of you super-mods to combine all the lists with all the li'l quesitons people throw in here to one super list that can be found from... dunno, the main page or something? There's the nifty smilies area, something kinda like that?

I know what DS & PF mean seperately, but not together DSPF.

DS=dear son
PF=pre-fold (cloth diaper)

Hmmm, now I'm curious.

What about ETA?
I see it here and there, but it dosnt appear to be "estimated time of arrival" (which would make sense, since we are here talkin' babies)...Any ideas?

These abbreviations came about in the days prior to the internet. Then we had local bulletin board services (BBS) that were all alpha numeric and no graphics. There were information pages, posting sites and chat rooms. The chat rooms were by far the most popular and it was not unusual to have a dozen or more participants on line at one time. The conversation would move so fast it was difficult to read and keep up sometimes. At these times the best you could do was 1 or 2 line messages or you would miss half of the conversation or the conversation would move past your reply. You also had to be a fast and accurate typist. The abbreviations were so that you could get your say in and not get behind or lost in it''s meaning. We have come so far in such a short time!

The first time I saw TIA at the end of a message, I thought it was her name, Tia!

very close!

it means "Nursing at Keyboard" and people throw it in there to let you know they may have mispelled words, no caps, or a short message because they are NAK.

I'd say more, but I'm NAK!
