It is a matter of opinion. I see put downs but maybe that is because I hear them in the nasty PMs we mods and Cynthia get every day.

She DOES have a choice. I am not the first person to suggest emailing Peggy. That is a repeated suggestion on the multitude of subjects that people get angry about here.

Nah. Those are so seventies. Tacky. Are you going to get them in aviators with a rhinestone heart in the corner? And wear heels with your pressed jeans? Maybe have "Afternoon Delight" on your 8-track?

Nope. I just posted to it. I think there are server issues right now, because my post didn't show up right away.

I am off. I have to get offline now, so if I don't answer anyone I am not intending to ignore.

I wonder how many of the complainers here have actually emailed Peggy? I have found in my life experience that people would rather complain than seek a solution.

Maybe because Peggy hasn't come here and offered her e-mail. Others did. How do we even know that she'll read them?

And how much day-to-day input does Peggy provide? How much of this does she actually already know? How steep is her learning curve on these subjects? How often do all the mods talk to her?

This board seems to be the preserve of the mods. So, we are asking the mods.

Isn't Peggy busy enough?

Yeah, AmandasMom, I was still a lurker then, but that was quite a coincidence.

And another to Curandera.

Laralou...

THAT was not a put down...I wish you would have asked before assuming..I said, "you should pardon the expression" because I didn't want anyone to accuse me of getting personal...so? You either take me at my word or think ill of me...your choice, but anyone who KNOWS me...knows I don't go out of my way to hurt feelings.

For the record: You would definitely know if I put someone down...that was NOT it! Sorry, but you're wrong. But don't go to the trouble of editing....let's let your words hang in the light of truth.

On another point:
I don't believe that Peggy O wants to know my feelings. I saw evidence of her rebuffing such inquiry, which shocked me at the time I saw it; and I saw the "pile-on" when a very good question was asked of her. Perhaps you didn't know about that. I have no documentation, but I did see it with my eyes. Someone, perhaps in an ill-timed manner, DID try to ask about this stuff during a "chat with Peggy O" session and was reamed no end for it by others...which I also saw. WHY should I believe that my email to Peggy O would even be read? I have little faith in that.

So please...try to understand that I am not just whistling dixie here... or just being mean.

And again, it might be wise to actually ASK about intent before you pronounce someone's words a "put down"; just some friendly advice!

I assume this a response to my question.

Personally in terms of community building I think this is wonderful. I have many new heroes. Joyce is certainly a new one.

Laralou,
I have emailed Peggy. I don't know the past history of which Joyce speaks, so I am acting in good faith that it will have some impact. From reading others post perhaps I am naive. But I have to learn this for myself before giving up.

I also think even if you question if Peggy wants to hear from us, it needs to happen. I let her know that, at the moment, we need to hear from HER. The more voices she hears from the bigger the impact. (Might not be the one we are after though...) Not mods who are enforcing current policy.

If I were one of the "Powers That Be" and I was getting angry hateful pms from a variety of people who are not the "powers that be" I would look twice at my role in the situation.

Actually my present name is my third manefestation on this board and I've been around more or less since late 2001, early 2002, don't remember exactly and my first "name" is gone. I started on this board as a response to being a new Mom and getting the magazine as a present. There it showed the MDC and I thought I'd try it. And boy did it ever help! It was after 9/11 - and we are living abroad - and I really wanted to know that there were likeminded people in the US - that my homeland was not just the überpatriotic nutzos that we were hearing on the news here. I also really appreciated being able to communicate in English with mothering issues.

So, I've been watching, and slowly posting less and less, let my subscription lapse and now even don't get bulletins - why? Well, let's just say I've let the subscription department know why, and don't feel free to share it with you, because this board makes me feel tremendously apprehensive about sharing anything critical, and for a relatively strong professional woman - that's saying a lot. I can't quite stop coming here and lurkiing - because so many of you are so amazing and the information - and the feeling I have of connectedness to my homeland that appears so strange to me.

You know I started writing this simply to say one thing - and got off track sharing my feelings for this board - sorry about that. What I wanted to say was - this is not the first time such things have come to a head - and this would not be the first time that people have written Peggy O.

Let's just say Joyce and Moon are two of my heroines, too!

Closing this thread as the reason you can't post in TAO is explained in the sticky at the top of the TAO forum. Also there's really nothing posted here other than personal issues to address and that should be taken private. The few other things will likely be or already has been covered in other threads.
