I think it's a shame we can't keep this thread going in a spirit of communication, and instead are reducing it to pot shots and personal attacks.

Stating an opinion is not judging, and crying "I'm not judging you! Stop judging me by saying I'm judging you!" is really not getting us any closer to a solution.

back to the subject at hand.... Segregation has never proved to have a good outcome, IMO. And I think the purpose of this segregation is based in immaturity of respect for others and their choices and will not accomplish anything positive.
No one in the diapering forum is excluding prefold users for the sake of excluding prefold users. This is a forum, for discussing things. If you don't post and talk it is not anybody elses fault but your own. We need to stop bringing our baggage to the forums.
Personal differences and issues between others aside, I think it is possible to get along. If th ecloth diapering community here at MDC is split, that doesn't send a very good message to outsiders, now does it?

But again, I don't believe it's a matter of segregating the hyenas and the non-hyenas, If there was one place for scores and show-offs, another place for questions, that would streamline things/ I don't see how that's segregation any more than having 4 different breastfeeding forums.

My understanding of the thread that started this was someone excited and showing off a snappi, right?

So, that would have to go into the score/show-off forum, where people would likely also be talking about hyena scores too.

How does this help prevent a recurrence of last night's misunderstanding?

ITA.

I don't want the boards seperated as a segregated community type thing - I just think it would be easier to find things and less confusing and the question threads won't get lost.

I don't know that it would. But I thought we had already all agreed that last night's "misunderstanding" was the result of one or two people making ASSumptions and posting inappropriately?

I could agree with a diapering questions and a diapering sales/stocking forum. But that wont necessarily cut down on talk of expensive diapers in the questions forum... I mean people could be asking questions about expensive diapers there and that would be ok cause it wasnt about stocking/sales :LOL But that is really the only way i could see dividing up the forum in a way to not cause segregation/division in the community.

Honestly, that's why I would like to see a third "show off" board- for everyone, not just hyenas.

well i guess we have to define the problems. Are we trying to fix:

the fact that new diapering mamas may be overwhelmed with all the talk of sales/stalking/stocking to get their questions answered

OR

are we wanting to create a forum that is just for frugal diapering/simple diapering

?? both of those have been brought up in the thread (along with many other issues) so im actually not sure what the exact problem people want to fix is

Like I've already said, I didn't see last night's thread, but I've read through all 12 pages of this one. It definitely seems that there was a misunderstanding last night, where no one meant to hurt anybody else.

That said, I thought this thread was about trying to improve the diapering forum so that a repeat of last night does not occur. I just don't think that there's really anyway to do that. I don't see how segregation will cause people to not get their feelings hurt sometimes. Unfortunately, when we type people can't hear the inflections in our voices that give tell tale clues as to what we mean.

aww so a

1. diapering basics/questions forum
2. diapering sales/stocking chit chat forum
3. diaper show off forum

?? like that? Tho I do think the show off threads the mods have been doing (1 a day) have been working to keep the show off/fluffymail posts down to one thread a day so I am not sure a whole forum is necessary.

No it won't but I think it would be less intimidating to a newcomer to see threads like "How do I get these stains out?" or "What do you wash with?" - which are really regardless of diaper choice. Then to have to dig through lots of "So and so is stalking" or "Look what I scored" posts to get to the question stuff. KWIM?

That is my main reason to want to split things up - I like to send people that are interested in CDing to MDC and a lot of times they get intimidated and leave

yeah, i don't think anyone wants to put s in the naughty chair. and it really is not about price as some people have mentioned...

i do think that one forum for questions and then another for stalking/stocking/pictures would be good.

that way there would be flow back and forth...

is there a major objection to this?? could we suggest it and then see how it works?

oh, and maybe diaper making could be a subforum under diapering as well. i think that would be a great way for people to see what they can make...

I dont know that I like the seperate forums still, but if its done as above I think it would be worth *trying*

Now can we have a subforum of TAO for everyone to post the inside jokes for us TAO virgins to know about ? I'm obviously just kidding, please dont anyone take that seriously :LOL

I think this is the most I have ever posted in one day.

I'm truly not understanding the backlash against the idea of breaking down Diapering into easier subtopics. The organization of similar topics is a far cry from the segregation of people. My overly logical brain is thinking... wouldn't it be EASIER to find the latest stocking date/time by the current fav wahm if you could run right to where the post would be, instead of sifting and searching through the day's hundred posts, you'd only have to visually scan 20 or so.

The ideas of forums for picture/showoff, stalking a stocking, diapering 101, simple diapering, and frugal diapering (and more) are on the table. The idea of a Hyena Forum and a Non-Hyena Forum (which I agree would only further break up the diapering community) is NOT at the table... I have not seen one post suggesting people go to their own corners, only posts suggesting that the rapidly growing Diapering Village build a 'corner market', a 'library', a 'laundremat', a 'school', a 'post office', etc so that it may continue to not only grow, but thrive.

This thread has actually changed my mind about stuff, and I guess I am now leaning more towards the second. Maybe the first could be in the frugal living forum with tips on things like making dipes from tea towels and longies from sweaters? :LOL

Well, let's be clear. Two different posters came on the thread and accused senior members of trolling. It wasn't a misunderstanding, it was rude.

This thread may of started out as a backlash against last night, but I think it has grown into more. Many people have expressed frustration with how things are more, and it's enough of an issue that the mods and CM were already discussing it. I don't think sweeping it under the rug is the answer.
