When I clicked an ad, there wasn't a popup, just took over my mothering window. Is there a way to change that? So it'll open a new window??

Right now I see advertisements that don't jive with the Mothering ideal, and I know that we are supposed to have a place we let the administrators know.

I've got one. It's not obscene or anything, but it's for an elective 4D ultrasound place - it doesn't seem to fit into the MDC image. Here a copy of the shortcut link http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com...046568995&nm=4

We're looking for a place to have a 'repot ads' button, in the meantime, feel free to PM me. Try to grab the link if you can.

I believe google ads are click through only. This means that it will not open a new window. I find the back button to work very well

do we report anything we dont think belongs advertsed in certain forums to a mod or what? the vaccination forum and CAC forum have ads that definatly dont fit the ideal in either one.

The ads are not forum specific, so just report to ME (or the mods will not be happy with me and I'll sift through them and report them to Cynthia.

I am noticing that it keeps advertising babycenter.com. Isn't that a competitor to mothering.com?

mothering should run ads that have nothing to do with kids.

because isn't it pretty much a given that we aren't all about whatever mainstream ads tell us we need to buy/do? vaccinate, circumsize, do this special ultrasound, etc. etc.

I just found an add for a doctors book that slams waterbirths... looks like so many adds are going to go against what mothering stands for.

Does anyone find the incontinence ads a little weird? Like, moms have issues with incontinence from childbirth, let's put incontinence ads in with the parent/child ads. :/

Right click and select "properties" and C&P the address from the little window that comes up.

american baby and babycenter?

there is NO way to monitor all these ads! i dont have time to research who Dr. whatshisname is that is being advertised here to make sure he doesnt promote CIO, spanking, rewards systems, etc.

How, exactly, do these raise money? is it be clicks? b/c if it is, im not going to click on any of them. i am curious as to what some of them are, but i dont spend money on stuff like that. if i spend money via this website, its by going to the list of merchants on the homepage here.

i literally feel myself getting ill looking at American Baby and babycenter ads for BIRTH STORIES! yeh, im sure mine would compare to theirs! all i can say is that MDC is becoming less and less safe here. how are these ads going to be monitored??? i really dont understand this at all.

nestle ads and ads for circ info that promotes circumcision? adult diapers?free strollers? all the reasons to vax? how does vaxxing promote public health? babycenter?

we aren't allowed to talk about babycenter, but we can click on something to go there?

we can't talk about our very own sex lives, but we have to see erectile disfunction ads, right next to ads promoting circumcision?

where did my mothering go? I'm seriously tearing up here.

American Baby and an anti-homebirth blog?:

Didn't MDC use to run ads from the usual merchants in that side bar space?

yep, you need firefox and then AD BLOCKER PLUS

Tho that doesnt really deal with the fact that these are not ads that should be on MDC, i dont see what positive ads are going to come out of google

regardless of how many ways there are to block these ads for individual computers/users, they shouldn't be here at all. It's not a matter of what we can block, it's about maintaining our values, which we have been told, don't include promoting circumcision and vaxxing.
