This is a old tradition and is a flag normally hung in windows of a family that has someone deployed in a war. As my beloved did last night.
I know there are many military family members on this board and to many of us this means a lot.

I know and respect that this war is a unpopular one and this image has nothing at all to do with politics, as our support of our family and friends never should.

here it is:

I made it myself this morning from larger images.
i suggest the hover text to be "MilitaryServceFlag"

Absolutely seconded. Thankfully, DH is done with his time in the USMC, but BIL is still serving. I think this would be a great addition for those keeping the homefires burning.

I have no idea how to make smilies. But I would like to see some different religious smilies - maybe a cross for Christian, a star for Jew...etc?

Because all I can find is this praying one: :

Barefootscientist, I would like to see a little chalice for UUs.

I think, though, that this has purposefully been avoided. At least that's my suspicion.

Can we have some? I don't know how to make any, but I think there's a large enough group of people who do this stuff that it deserves some smilies!

Some suggestions were the basic sign holding smilie like : with a QF and/or NFP message, a smilie with lot of kids with a QF message, and a QF smilie with an umbrella as it rains baby smilies. Some ideas for NFP might be a chart with NFP on it or something.

Any other suggestions? And if you'd like to see this, post here! Build support!

We do have some chart smilies in the list.

Smilies are created by the members, we don't make them.

Quiverfull. Basically not using birth control and just having as many kids as we have(or NFP, is not using artificial bc, but tracking our cycles to prevent or bring about pregnancy).

I've noticed that lots of people, myself included, use the "cold" (shivering smiley with hat & scarf) when they want to convey a shudder/heebee-jeebees/ icked out feeling. As in "I cannot stand the sight of rats" ((shudder)). Any chance this could happen? Thanks!

I totally agree.... But I believe MDC doesn't add smilies from outside sources (anymore anyway) so someone must first MAKE the smilie. I don't know how, but many members are experienced in making smilies.

I never thought of this until today, but all the loss smilies are little angels. As a hardcore atheist I just can't bring myself to use one : . I'd love if someone could brainstorm a way to show mourning the loss of a baby in a way other than it being an angel. I'll try to think of ways, too.

Many thanks .

I'd love an NFP smilie! The chart smilie implies TTC, so a chart with the letters NFP over it would work for the NFP'ers.

Definitely! The little guy in the hat doesn't quite convey it. Maybe a trowel stuck in the ground next to a little plant? It would be awesome if the plant started small and grew!

Thanks, Jen .

For the non-religious loss one, how about a baby in a heart with the word "Forever" in a pretty font above the heart? It would mean "forever in my heart". I'd try to make it but I don't have any programs on here that I can use.

Agreed.

I'm a Christian woman, but I don't believe that everyone goes heaven after they die. I'd like to put a little thing in my sig about my lost baby, but I don't want to put the angel and the pink/blue ribbon is kind of boring.

there is two charts , : that shows a BFP for those charting to conceive and that shows no pregnancy for those charting to avoid.
