Selling will be the same as in the current TP - new, crafty, etc.

Yay! I just checked out the new TP to see if it was worth listing a whole bunch of diapers I have, and decided it wasn't. I'm glad to see the old one will be coming back soon

Just another buyer/seller very happy to see that the old TP is coming back.

I miss it and have tried to buy/sell on the new TP with very little luck - very disappointed in that, so hooray to hear the news.

So, is the new TP still working while the old one is being put back or is the whole thing down right now? I actually just found the new TP and was trying to find out about some diapers but am not getting any response and wondering if that means it's down until further notice.

I believe its still working (the new TP). I've noticed alot of people forgetting about their posts on the new TP. For example, an ad for a couple books is still being renewed every week. But when I inquired about those books well over a month ago, they had already been sold.

I was very upset about the change as well. But I guess it is stupid of me to be upset over having to pay to post when I already paid for a five year subscription to the mag...

Is it back? How do I find it? I am new to MDC and so don't know how to get to either the old one or the new one. I thought it might be the iTrader link above, but when I click that I'm told I don't have access to that.

EDIT - scratch that - I just found the link!

I need to sell most of my Enwrapture skirts - they just aren't DD or my style Keeping a couple of them, but the rest needs to get sold and I'm holding out for the original TP cause I don't like the new one. At all.

You need to be a member for at least 60 days, and have at least 50 posts, before you can access the Trading Post. I don't think that particular rule is likely to change, regardless of which trading post software is in use. I'm not sure if you can shop before meeting those posting goals, but I know you can't sell before then.

The idea is to offer a service to MDC members to swap stuff, not have a bunch of people using the TP like eBay and not becoming part of the MDC community.

We really can't give you a timeframe.

When things like this are done the work relies on third parties to get features and functions in place, to adjust the templates in vB to modify and make happen things that are not default. It's a task of steps to be accomplished and the people completing it for us have just so much time themselves. And yes, we have offered to pay for their services so it's not a matter of money. We have to await their availability to get their assistance to make things work. And once they make things work we often find something not working quite right and then we have to work through that issue.

Every single day at MDC presents new needs, issues, problems, and things to work out so even though this is a priority, we do get caught up in things that are a higher priority. So we really can't set an estimated time, especially since we have other people outside of Mothering involved in the work and cannot always reach them and arrange for the work to finish in a time frame we might like.

The biggest delay here is that we are awaiting them to complete an addon to create specific functions we need for the forum.

It is in our work list of things currently being done. When we can get it done we will. That's the best I can offer you.

Ah. I posted a question earlier; didn't realize all this was afoot. So, um, when it comes back, does each item have to be listed individually, or can I post a link to a shutterfly album full of stuff? I have too much to make it worth individual posts. How do lots work?

I think I'll take pictures of all my great stuff that's been forlornly sitting in my closet, waiting to be sold...

That way my photobucket page will be all updated and ready to go when the TP is back up.

I bet there's going to be so much good stuff at first when it starts up again!

I think I answered your other post assuming you meant the new TP A lot of related items would be fine as long as the items were related to the area in which you're posting. 10 cloth diapers and 5 maternity shirts would need to be listed as two separate lots for organizational purposes. Hope I'm making sense!

I have retired from administration work, so if you have a question about anything MDC-related, please contact Cynthia Mosher. Thanks!
