With dd, I was told that since she was posterior I would feel a lot of pain in my back but instead I felt it in my sides. My back and front felt fine, but my sides hurt the way they do when there is a kidney infection. I tested negative for that, though.

I spent most of my time in bed but did try side-lying and squatting, which didn't do much for the pain. The nurses said they had never heard of it. (That's not what anyone wants to hear!)

Has anyone heard of this? Was it because she was posterior, or something else? Is there any way to alleviate it in case it happens again?

I'm thinking that perhaps her positioning played into the pain - that she was not down IN your pelVis, but rather right inside, with her feet and bulk of her body (also heaVy!) out and away from your back.

I think that this could haVe created alot of strain on those ligaments on the sides of your body, as it worked to support the uterus and your baby in that position during that work.

Homeopathic arnica? Some topical arnica/hypericum oil or gel? Warm compresses?

What do you think about that? Does it make sense how I described it?

I had been thinking a heating pad may have helped.
