Is there any major difference between the birthing pools and like a regular inflatable pool? Some of the birthing pools are fairly expensive. The inflatable pools I am looking at range from $28-$60 the birthing pools are more like $125-$300.

I've wondered the same thing. I think the main things you want to look for are that you have sturdy sides you can lean heavily against, and the water is a min of 21-24".

as long as it is deep enough and has an inflatable bottom (that is very important imo) it should be fine.  i know a lot of mamas use these http://inhishands.com/Water-Birth-Pool-60-X-22-Deep.283  i went ahead and bought a second hand labassine because it came with the hoses and whatnot and it's 30in deep which i preferred.

The pools made for birth are much higher quality.

This one looks like it may be good, other than the few reviews that said it deflated it has been used by others for home births http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000Q0QTRW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&m=A18ACDNYOEMMOL

Yeah, I probably wouldn't be buying it off amazon. I am going to look locally first at the end of summer when all summer stuff is on clearance. Those pools are pretty heavy though.
