I never heard of it and i'm okay with paying it. I am just wondering what is it for? My midwife is coming to my house to meet me, the kids and my husband this Friday. She seems very nice and funny. She has met Ricki Lake, does a lot of Conventions for Breastfeeding, advocating natural births etc.

She told me she has a $500 Retainer and i don't remember if that is part of the Home birth price of $4500 or separate. She is charging me $4500 for living local within 30 minutes or less and another discount. I have to ask again when i see her.

Also should i just offer Hot/Cold tea? Buy cookies?

Thanks :)

I'm sure it's the deposit on the entire fee. She will only take a certain number of clients per month and the deposit secures your spot in her schedule.

Fledgling midwife on hiatus, Wife to B, mama to C (c/s ribboncesarean.gif 12/04) and S hbac.gif (12/07), angel3.gif m/c (3/12) and expecting another bean 6/13 stork-suprise.gif.

Yes, probably just the first payment that will go towards some sort of payment plan for paying the universal fee. I would offer some food, personally. I would probably not offer food for every visit (if all your visits will be at your home) but for the first one, yes.
