Putting this up here as a resource for home birthers, but it applies to any pregnancy, whether in hospital or out.

Safer Midwifery for Michigan's blog post today was about "Taking Responsibility for the Safety of Your Birth".

It includes warning signs that your midwife should be watching for and includes the actions she should take when they happen. If the midwife doesn't take the appropriate action, then the parents need to take action to protect mom and baby.

Sara Snyder at Safer Midwifery wants other parents to have more information than she had when her baby died. I hope you all find this helpful and happy birthing.

My understanding is that they will be adding another post that includes maternal postpartum and the newborn. They usually post once a week so maybe it will be up next week.

Very good article. I have to say that my MW is excellent, and provides very thorough care.
