I am due in 11 weeks, in the process of moving to another state, and I've decided that I want to try to have a home birth or go to a birthing center. Being that I currently live in an area that doesn't offer any of these services, I was hoping to be able to plan what I want to do once in TN. Any feed back on service in Bristol, TN will be greatly appreciated!

I would call the midwives in the location you will be and see what they say. Perhaps if you have prenatal care records they would take you, but if you've had no care up to this point they may consider it too risky. This varies depending on the midwife so your best bet is to talk to them.

I can't seem to find a midwife in the area, the nearest one is 2 hours away and I doubt they will travel that far. I've maintained meticulous records of all my doctors visit and appointments in hopes that I would be able to find a local midwife.

It's worth asking if they will travel, mine lives 2 hours away but has clients in my city. Are there any birth centers in the area? Having records of your prenatal care will probably help you a lot.
