Hello ladies! I am new to this thread, but I had a question. I am a mother to 3 sons - ages 8, 2, and 19 months. We are planning to start trying for another this year and would like a natural birth, as all my others were hospital induced with epidurals. I have talked to 2 local midwives, Angie Neis and DeEtte Nicholson, and like them a lot but still not dead set on going the homebirth route. Is there a midwife in the East Tennessee/Tri Cities area that you strongly recommend/have used before? Input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I'm in the Tri-Cities area of East TN as well! I have 3 children & am around 16 weeks with number 4. I had number 3 at home with Karen Moran but she is now retired. I am planning a homebirth with Angie Neis this time & feel really good about it. I know people that have used both Angie & DeEtte & were very happy with them so I would say it's probably just your preference & who you feel more comfortable with. I loved my homebirth & am looking forward to this one in August! Good Luck making your decision.

Thank you so much! I believe I do want to go with Angie when the time comes, as we haven't started trying yet, but right now I am just doing research so I don't have to stress myself out when the time comes. She seems like she shares a lot of my beliefs. I am really excited, it's going to be a completely different experience than the past 3 times!! I am so glad you enjoy her!!

I had DeEtte Nicholson (we lived in far Western NC) and she is so skilled. So calm. Depending on what kind of midwife you want, it was our first homebirth and because she was a CNM, it was the only way my hubby felt comfortable at home. She was wonderful for what we needed...that was back in 2005

I have re-opened (after having been busy in FL & then NC) my homebirth Nurse-Midwifery, well woman & family planning practice in Northeast TN. I cover roughly 2 hr. radius of JOhnson City & reside in Erwin/Unicoi area. Prenatals are in YOUR home! I have been in childbearing arena in some capacity since nov. 1980; midwifing since 1986 (after training). Surrounding states in which I have midwified over the yrs. are NC, SC, VA, & TN.
