That was 1958. Can you IMAGINE a doc saying that now? Look at how far modern medicine has taken us. Le sigh.
Ooh, very cool!

My grandmother had twilight sleep for 9 of her 10 children. The one she was awake for was a 35 week breech baby. The Dr. told her that she needed to help him push for a breech baby. She said after that experience she wished she'd been awake for all of them. She LOVED giving birth./ She kept orgasming on the table. Ahhh, my sweet grandmother. I love when she tells that story.

Asia Carrera, a porn star, had a home birth...the story is halfway down on the blog.

Her story is also on IVillage. Her husband died before the baby was born in an automobile accident; she was going to do a UC. She has a 17 year old daughter with him also.

I think her first daughter is 17 months, not years. She wasn't married to him that long.

Aack. I don't dare read all 8 pages, so sorry if this is a repeat.

Noah Wylie had a homebirth, I believe. They are pretty AP too from what I've read.

That's pretty ironic considering the show that made him famous seems vehemently against anything you'd consider "cunchy"

Why is that ironic? He is an actor so he was only playing a part.

I quite agree, I was thinking more the writers of the show, and an actor can't always help that. Sometimes writers draw inspiration from their actors playing their characters, so one hopes...If Noah Wylie's SO had a homebirth I feel like "yay!" , a little "in your face!" satisfaction.
I have raging anti-ER sentiments , don't mind me

I had a friend who had a vaginal delivery with a cast on her leg.

With my second baby, I had a pulled muscle in my hip early in the pregnancy that affected feeling and strength in my left leg. It resolved after the delivery.

Yes, they are very AP. I saw them speak at the Whole Children Whole Planet expo in LA last spring, and it was great. He worked on the "What Babies Want" project (http://whatbabieswant.com/); he's the narrator.

Two things -

I was just wondering if anyone had any reference about Julianne Moore having had a HB - I've read this several places, but have tried in vain to turn up any evidence.

And, you know the celebrity couple I would like to see have a HB? Mary Cheney and Heather Poe. That would get some press, I bet.

Right. I mean couldn't you just see grumpy old Dick coming out as a big homebirth advocate and saying how great his grandchild's birth was? Yeah, I know - I'm dreaming.

Asia (former porn star) did UC at home- midwife didn't make it there in time. Noah and his wife are totally AP- they use that famous pediatrician- forget his name... but they didn't have a homebirth . Anyone have more info on Maggie Gyllenhahl(sp) birth- can't seem to find details

Jessica- mom to four boys ,, midwife

yes, Asia Carrera (sp?) had an unplanned UC (was planned as a midwife assisted homebirth) I read an an account of it somewhere. I'll see if I can dig up the link. It was especially meaningful because her dh unexpectedly died during her pregnancy. :

Here's the link. This still makes me bawl. If you go to her website (explicit, be warned) there is more info about her dh who passed away 6 weeks before their baby was born.

Garth Brooks has a daugher named August but I would guess she is 14ish years old by now.

Keri

Just looked it up - her name is August Annie Brooks and she was born May 3, 1994. So I guess that makes her 12.

That was an awsome story - I love how she describes how she feels at the end and the "squip" noise of baby's arrival . Teared up seeing the pics of he dh at the bottom

Does anyone else feel like we might as well just have a "Celebrity Vaginal Birthers" thread? Seems vag. birth is about as common as homebirth among celebs.

Julia Roberts is preggo I hear...

I am almost positive that she had a cesarean.
However, Geena Davis had her twins vaginally and when People Magazine reported that she had a cesarean (they assumed) she wrote them a letter explaining that she birthed them vaginally and was very proud of it

yea it was a section, so probably the chances she'll opt for a HBAC are slim...

Melissa Ethridge's partner just had big, gorgeous full-term twins vaginally. She's nursing them too!

P Diddy's twins were just born by c-section...I follow the celebrity twin pgs pretty closely...waiting to hear about Patrick Dempsey's twins and the Elvis Costello/Diana Krall twins.

Ok...back to your regularly scheduled celebrity homebirth thread!

Trying to get my bearings...

Okay, this is just celebrity birth news, not homebirth, but ack! It's so awful I had to post it. Dayna Devon (yeah, I know - who?) says thank goodness she had a C-section for her 8 lb. 2 oz. son. : Here it is:

http://www.celebrity-babies.com/2007...devon_wel.html

One day no one will believe that babies used to come out of vaginas . . . :
