After how many homebirths would you consider a midwife experienced? The midwife I am seeing has delivered 500+. Is this a lot?

I would say that's a good, solid amount. I myself have been to/attended about 200 births, and know I could see a lot more than I have. My former midwife partner has attended 500+ births, and she's awesome - in her intuitive knowledge as well as practical skills. She's been to this many over about 15 years.

hope this helps!

Barbara:

Thanks for your reply. My midwife and I click quite well. We have a lot of the same philosophies. She has already compassionatly helped my through a miscarriage. This will be my first homebirth following two non-medicated hospital births, one with a CNM, one with a General Practitioner. I feel confident in my body and ability to deliver, I was just getting a little nervous after reading the thread on what went wrong with homebirths. Won't go there again!!

Thanks again!
