You CAN do it. I have done it. Can you hire a doula to help you labor at home as long as possible? I think that was a huge part of my success. If cost is an issue, there are many doulas in training who will attend your birth for free (or almost) in exchange for the experience. Check out www.dona.org and remember, doula or no doula, you can totally do this. Although, since this doctor is a partner of your other doctor, I would seriously consider switching practices altogether. At the very least, tell your regular doc about the appointment VERBATIM.

Congratulations, Vanessa! What a great job...those long labors are SOOOOOOO hard! And butt/hip labor is killer, too. You are a rock star.

And Welcome to the World, Little One!

Mama to two awesome kids. Wife to a wonderful, attached, loving husband. I love my job-- I'm a Midwife, Doula and Childbirth Educator, Classes forming now!
