With my first, I just kept saying, "oh my sweet baby!!" over and over and kissing his head and telling him, "I love you!" But I was also thinking, "oh, I can't go through this ever again!" LOL! (was induced month early due to dangerous complications, tore and an episiotomy, failed epidural, broken tailbone...)

But big surprise, next time around I had a midwife. We were in the hospital, but no staff was allowed in the room besides my midwife. I had a shower until his head crowned, LOL, then the midwife was like, "c'mon out! I didn't bring a swimsuit!" LOL and my dh helped me out. The whole birth was so amazing, so beautiful and so DIFFERENT from the first! No meds, no drugs, no complications, no tearing (even though it was a fast 4 hours from the first faint contraction to birth!) and just AWESOME! I felt so powerful and energized! He was born and all I could say was, "Thank you God!!" and I told my husband and midwife I wanted to do it again!! LOL!!! She said after how the first birth, she was very happy to hear that!

Love your babies mamas! I love reading these posts!

I said "aww, he's so small"

He was 6'10 (18 inches) but convinced me he was going to be 10 pounds based on u/s and the fact I had GD. They were WRONG!

"I can see my pubes!"

I'm not a horrible mom. Babe was whisked away b/c of tons of mec. Wish it had been different, but humor helps when things are out of your control!

I think I said,"Hello baby. You're so beautiful." It was probably a few minutes b/f we looked and dh said, "We have a Kaelie!"-we didn't know the sex and it was our girl name.

Next time I definetly want to videotape b/c I felt really out of it even though I didn't have any drugs (it was a home birth.) And b/c dh is convinced that we checked her sex right away, but me and my best friend remember waiting at least a minute or two. I think we'll disagree about the time sequence forever.

Let's definetly keep this going.

Trish~mama to Kaelie 5/03 and Amelia 12/13, surro mama to Aidan 2/08 & Ellyss 6/09,

When I woke up from general anesthesia from a c-section I was alone and scared. I couldn't move and I heard some nurses voices so my first words were "help". Of course I didn't actually get any. I sure as hell hope my first words can be a little better this time!

Well, the midwife said "What is it?" and I said "It's a girl! Right?" (I was on hands and knees and couldn't see a thing. The next thing the midwife said was "And she has dimples!"

The first thing I said when I first saw her was "She looks just like I did!" as a baby, that is.

Lovely stories, everyone.

Then I said, "Don't cut the cord right away!" and "How come she has dark hair?" (It was blond as soon as all the junk was washed off!)

my first words were 'that was weird.' typical understatement :LOL . the midwife set her on my stomach and i said 'it looks like a puppy!' dh said 'honey it's a girl' and i said 'what? oh. i can see that.'

i don't get excited easily.

edited to add: believe me, it was exciting, but i am a pretty reserved person.

...then while ds was being born i looked at karl and said,"I Love You!"

...then after he was born and on my tummy i said "my baby my baby!"
