Last time, I went into labor spontaneously at 38 weeks. One day the head was engaged and the next day I was having contractions.

But I never had any of those other signs that labor is approaching. I never got a nesting urge, or a burst of energy, and I never had diarrhea. I also never had a BH contraction.

Does this mean that I wasn't ready, and the baby just decided to get out because the uterine enviromment was not good? Do people sometimes just not have the signs?

I think those Signs are like nausea in early pg: not everybody gets them. The only real sign of being ready for labor is... uh... well... labor, I guess

yep...I never got that stuff either...the only "symptom" of labor I got was some diareah early early that morning. I'm a neat freak so I ALWAYS run around cleaning and preparing....nothin' new there!!!

I didn't really have aby nesting urge. The night I did go into labor, I called my mother and told her my house was a mess. She cleaned it for me while I tried to sleep. I never got any diarreha either. I just didn't want to eat for two days, a piece of toast filled me up.
I never had any braxton hicks with my first, but I had them with my second. The midwife told me that usually first time mothers don't feel them as much if at all.

This is what my midwife told me, "how do you know your in labor? the baby comes out". It made me want to smack her. Not everyone has every sign.

This time I'm only half nesting. I have the urge just no desire to do it!
