what I really hate about the medical community is how they use ultrasounds as verbatum - especially sexing the child before 30 weeks! Until 20 weeks, penii and clitorii look identical, yet here are techies that are saying "boy" or "girl" to 12weekers! And worse? women are believing them as verbatum and are suddenly "surprised" at the 30 week one to discover their girl has grown boy bits or vice versa. And none of them want to even believe that the U/S techie could be wrong.
And that the ultrasounds are _incorrect_ in due date. My son was diagnosed with iugr. Same as his sister. And his date was moved back to September 5 from August 20(lmp) even tho ovulation date put it at August 27. Not only was I charting, I had taken clomid and so I knew _exactly_ which day I ovulated. Nope. OB didn't believe my charts even when I handed them to him! He went by the IUGR diagnosis and said I was two weeks earlier than I was - uh gee.. so I had premature labour at 30 weeks not 32 like he thought? AUGH.
My son was born August 22, 9lbs, 8oz. So much for IUGR. And the ultrasound didn't find the little defect by his ear either.
My daughter's dates didn't vary so wildly. There was only a week difference, but I was still diagnosed with IUGR with her. Uh. yah. right. All 8lbs 5oz iugr!
This one... August 23th is the LMP date. But - BUT - I didn't ovulate till day 28! So, that moves it into September. By O, I am due early September. The U/S I had 6 weeks ago confirmed that date. But I'm still telling everyone the 20th just to keep them off my back. :LOL
I know they're going to bug me about another ultrasound - one for after 18 weeks or so. I won't go for it.
