With DD1 I was in labor for 8 hours, DD2 was 6 hours, and with DD3 It was almost an hour when they broke my water. I have to say the shorter the labor the more intense it felt to me and more painful.

Rebecca~mama to DD1-Alyssa 6/05, DD2-Kaylin 8/08, and new edition DD3-Reyana 8/10.

Mine was 18 as I recall. Started with waters breaking, contractions shortly after. They were mild but evenly spaced. 1st stage was about 14 hours with a 4 hour second stage.

My first was exactly 11 hours long from first contraction to birth. I woke up to 2 minute contractions.

For Dd2 my water broke and I didn't go into labor. So it was around 40 hours after my water broke that I gave birth. But from first contraction to birth was a little less than four hours. Again, I woke up to 2 minute contractions.

I am in the 36-48 hour range with my first. I was having contractions for over 30 hours and I was only 4 cm dilated. The nurse had me walk around for 2 hours to see if I can progress faster, but it did nothing for me. Finally got a pit and an epidural and I was fully dilated after 6 hours. Whoever had 48+ hours labor, you are a trooper. I am now pregnant with my second and due in 2 months. The anxiety has returned and I really hope that it will go smoother the second time.

27 hours with DD, 10 with DS.

This poll probably isn't terribly scientific because I'm guessing that a disproportionate number of MDC mamas have had natural, low-intervention births. That will push the average up a bit. Mamas placed under the gun with pit and c-sections will probably have shorter labor times.

In God we trust; all others must show data. selectivevax.gifsurf.gifteapot2.GIFintactivist.gif

1st sign of labor (both times) has been when my water broke, contractions begin almost immediately, and from water breaking to baby in arms was 1 hour and 48 minutes with DD1 and 1 hour and 8 minutes with DD2 (And the cord was wrapped around her neck twice, slowing her down!)

I walk around for weeks at 100% effaced and 3-5 cms dilated without ever feeling anything.

I voted 12 - 18 hours, because I definitely knew I was in early labor that morning, but it wasn't hard labor by any means. I was puttering around cleaning the house and making soup. It slowly and steadily progressed throughout the day. I was in active labor for about six hours, and intense labor for about three hours.
