Not sure if Im posting in the right place.

Ive got a mama friend of mine in the hospital for high BP. they are stating that they will not deliver her baby and will transport her to another place if she refuses the vitamin K AND call DCFS.

She is in alexian in elk grove village , IL.

Any info on her rights would be helpful. Can they refuse care or treatment? Can she sign a waiver.

I'm sorry I can't help with your question. But you might do well to post this in the Illinois section of the Finding Your Tribe forum, to find mamas more knowledgeable about the laws and practices specifically in that area.

Illinois has a religious exemption for all vaxes, including Vitamin K. http://www.nvic.org/Vaccine-Laws/state-vaccine-requirements/illinois.aspx. If she says it's against her religious beliefs (they can't ask what those are, or demand proof), she's good to go.

I suppose they possibly have the right to refuse treatment, but it seems somewhat unlikely that they would truly take a stand on an issue like this.
