I just wanted to clarify, as a HypnoBirthing Instructor, that at no point is HypnoBirthing saying a woman should stay laying down, or in any one position.  In fact, what it teaches is follow your body's lead, and adjust your position as you feel necessary.  At NO point does HypnoBirthing tell a woman to not move in labor. Some women lay down in labor, some squat, some dance, some walk, some rotate into numerous positions.  Entirely up to the woman, her body, and her baby.  HypnoBirthing: The Mongan Method has a book available  which is a great starting point for finding out what it really is. FYI check out page 253 in the book, has many illustrated positions as options that women can use in labor.
