I'm not sure if this is the right forum or not so mods feel free to move it if there is a better place.

DS was born 2 1/2 months ago via natural vaginal birth with two very minor first degree tears.  They were so minor my midwife debated if she should even stitch them up or let them heal on thier own.  She put two stitches in and said that would help things to heal up quicker.  DH and I have DTD a few times and every time I have started bleeding a little.  Not much and it ends pretty quickly, it's definitely not lochia or AF but bright red like my stitches are getting irritated.  I don't have any pain otherwise but when we have DTD its a little painful at first.  Once it was so painful he had to stop.  After DTD for a few minutes I can start to feel the stitched area getting irritated and sore.

Is that normal or should I call my midwife and have it checked out?  When I went in for my 6 week PP checkup she said everything had healed properly and I shouldn't have any problems (we hadn't DTD at that point since my bleeding had stopped only days before my appointment).  I'm not sure if it's normal or not since my first was a c-section.

I never bled pp from DTD before, but I certainly continue to have pain with it for quite some time.  In fact, for me, things don't feel back to normal down there until around 9 months pp.  So the fact that you're experiencing pain sounds perfectly normal to me and ordinarily I would take it as a sign that things just aren't quite ready for that kind of activity yet.  However, the bleeding would concern me and personally, I would make an appointment to see if they can spot what is bleeding and determine why and what can be done about it.  Good luck!
