Alicia, wife to an loving and faithful DH, and mama to three fantastic though nutty children (cs, then a fast HBAC, then a fast VBAC!!). Planning a third VBAC, again at home, in February 2016.
I don't understand this at all. What in the world! Why don't they say anything about the woman? Did she not realize she wasn't pregnant?

When I first saw this, I thought it was one of those April Fool's Day joke articles. It is dated in April of last year. But this article is on several news sources, there is a thread on this at allnurses.com, and I followed a link to the North Carolina Medical Board website, where Dr. Dorrette Grant's license can be verified. Apparantly this case was brought to the attention of the state medical board, though it's unclear what disciplinary measures were taken.
One of the articles said that an intern did an ultrasound and could not find a heartbeat, so it was treated as fetal demise. When labor induction didn't work, they performed a c-section.
It appears that no physical exam was done. Even a cervical check should have raised some questions, and did no one attempt to discern the position of the baby? This is a really bizarre situation overall.
