It seems to me that whenever I read birth stories of anyone using hypnosis for childbirth (Hypnobirthing, Hypnobabies, Blissborn etc.) all of the moms go past their due dates.  It almost seems common for them to go two weeks over!  I had my first baby a month early and completely expected to go early again, but my due date is quickly approaching and I almost wonder if this is because I have been practicing hypnosis to use during childbirth (I didn't know about it with my first.)  Maybe baby is loving those calm hormones and doesn't feel a need to come out?  Or it could just be coincidence...

I'm curious- if you used hypnosis to prepare for childbirth did you go early, late, on time?

That's an interesting question!  I did hypnotherapy with someone I had been working with previously for stress.  I had personalized sessions and CDs to listen to at home, which I did through the whole pregnancy.  I ended up going into labor 6 days before my due date.  When my water broke, there was meconium in my fluid so I didn't get the slow, hypnotherapy birth I was planning for.  But, I loved using hypnosis, and think that just having my triggers built in to help me deal with stress and pain really helped.  I'm using it again this time.

It will be interesting to see if you come on time or late.  I wonder what other people experienced.

I did hypnobabies and went at 38 weeks. Lots of people in the yahoo group for hypno went prior to their DD. If it seems like women doing hypnosis are going longer it's probably just b/c that population is more likely to be refusing inductions.

Yes!  Congratulations!  Did the hypnobirthing help?  Hope you had a wonderful birth experience.

Use hypnobabies with LO#2 and was a week early. Also use chico and accupunture and three days before accupunturist did the first "trigger" for labor. No idea if any of these mattered but she was out fast!

I used Hypnobabies, and gave birth to DD at 41 weeks 5 days. And that was after being induced. She was cozy in there.

I used hypnosis for all three of my births, and they all arrived at 39 weeks 4 days.  My students have their babies all over the range of 37-42 weeks, so I don't think there is a correlation beyond the fact that most of them seem to be far more accepting of the baby's timing than most moms I know.  I think it's all those suggestions that babies are born on their birthdays.

I've had five babies.  I was induced with my first a few days early and got an epidural (no hypnosis training).  I did hypnosis with my last four.  They all came spontaneously at 1.5 - 3 weeks early.

2 out of 3 (so far) have been "late". Only 1 of those was with Hypnobabies & I was incredibly stressed at the end of that pregnancy.
