I'm 2 weeks pp, had a third degree tear during birth so have been pretty sore these past two weeks! To top it off, this past week, I noticed a small lump forming on my outer labia, about the size of a pea. I thought it was just a cyst as I've had them before and this is what if felt like, so just started taking some hot baths everyday and assumed it would go away. Well a few days later and I have four of the buggers, they're all pea sized and are all really, really sore to the point where I don't even notice my stitches anymore. I thought it could be hemorroids because there's so many of them, but didn't think that you usually get hemorroids on your labia. The skin isn't discoloured or anything where they are, it's just a lump. My midwife is out of town on holiday, I'll be seeing her on Wednesday and plan on asking her then, but instead of calling her on holiday in a state of panic, I thought I'd ask on here first to see if anyone has experienced this before or know if this is at least <somewhat> normal during the postpartum weeks?

Are you still wearing pads? Pads may be irritating the area. There are skene's glands that are upper glands and bartholin glands are lower . I have used epsom salts packs to bring down bartholin gland swellings they can get pretty big like larger than a golf ball. Put epsom salts in a small dish and then add just enough water to make moist like a snow cone/slushie and then apply directly over the swelling and gland opening. Rinse off once the epsom salts dries out or when you need to get up and move around.
since you have been soaking and it is getting worse not better then I would say dont soak, try using a light bulb near the area to see if that works out better. if you are wearing pads try just sitting on a chux or changing pads more often or moving to a disposable pad of a different brand/type most often we have irritations and infections starting from moms using always pads... But sometimes it is just a pad at all, or not wearing a pad when one is called for and too much unabsorbed moisture is part of the problem. Sometimes a fresh aloe leaf one side peeled and applied will heal stuff up, it tends to act as a wet-dry bandage and equalizes moisture rather than adding moisture so if you have any around one thing to try.

Well they went away as suddenly as they came- weird. I stole some of DD's bamboo diaper inserts and used those instead of my regular pads for a while, which seemed to help. My midwife thought it might have been because of all the extra moisture down there, on top of the not so nice disposable pads I was using. In any event they're gone now- thank god!
