Piglet68-regardless of what dictionary.com says, I still think people who don't "know" really do know, in a zen koan kind of way. And ignorant does carry a negative connotation.

I have to jump in and echo what Greaseball said....

Having an elective cesarean is NOT like having plastic surgery. Women who choose them are not only subjecting themselves to a more dangerous way of birthing, but their babies as well. That is just irresponsible to me....on the part of the mother, her doctor, the insurance company who pays for it, and the media who perpetuate the myth that cesarean birth is as safe as vaginal birth.

I also think there is a lot more to it than reasons given by women choosing elective c/sec. Potentially putting your baby in harm's way because you fear incontinence? No. I don't think that's it.

There is a greater cause at the root of it: fear and cultural myth.
