On Thursday, I have two doctor appointments. At the last appointment, I found out that I have high blood pressure. Friday, I'll be 36 weeks pregnant. At about 25 weeks, I was told that I have 4oz. of extra fluid in my stomach. This resulted in me seeing a high risk doctor and he ordered me to a 24 hour urine test. I completed it and never heard anything about it, so I'm guessing it went well.... He also ordered me to bed rest and that I get stress test done at my regular OB. When I went to my regular OB, he sent me to the hospital and they did the test and told me just to make sure I stayed in bed and counted the baby's kicks. Well, my blood pressure still hasn't gone below 130/90. Most of the time its 150ish/101. And when it is lower, my pulse is over 100. So, should I expect for them to induce me when I go in to the appointments on Thursday, or what? This morning, I woke up and it was 144/106 and i checked it like ten minutes ago and it was 136/106.

With diastolic pressure that high, I would be calling my OB and/or the high risk specialist IMMEDIATELY. When dealing with HBP due to pregnancy, 140/90 was my cut-off for going into L&D. Please be cautious. PIH/Pre-e are nothing to mess with. I would be surprised if they waited much longer to induce you since you are close to 37w.

Also, be on the lookout for symptoms such as:

 - sudden or persistent severe headach

 - visual disturbances like floaters or black spots

 - sudden or severe swelling of hands or face

 - pain under your right ribcage

If you have any of those, please don't hesitate to go in to L&D. But seriously, I would have gone in already if I were you, due to those pressures.

GOOD LUCK!!

I agree - that diastolic is scary high.

Since you are not at term yet, if baby is tolerating the conditions and there are no other indicators, you may be admitted or put on beta blockers, but likely not induced.

Every care provider is different when it comes to treatment of PIH, and some are more conservative than others.  My BP was 190/100 on beta blockers, mag. sulfate, and hospital bedrest when my doc finally decided to deliver at 34 weeks.  I had severe headaches and visual disturbances, 300mg of protein in my urine, and a history of severe pre-e, and my doc still wanted to try to get me to 37 weeks as long as my BP was controlled, which required an ever-increasing dose of beta blockers.  Other docs thought I should have delivered by 30 weeks.
