I am currently working on a dissertation about out-of-hospital birth in New York City, in conjunction with the New York University Journalism Institute. I’ve spent the last four months primarily doing research and interviews with midwives and birth professionals, and now I’d like to get in touch with parents who have experienced a planned out-of-hospital birth.
If you have had—or are planning to have—a home birth or a birth center birth in the New York City area, and would be interested in participating, please let me know and I’d love to provide more details and set up a brief interview with you about your experience.
Thanks in advance for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Hi Ms. Williams,
Your research sounds very interesting. I work for the American Association of Birth Centers, the national trade association for freestanding birth centers. We currently have only two members in the NYC area -- one in Brooklyn and one in the Bronx.
If we can provide any assistance or help you make any connections, please feel free to contact us. Our website is www.birthcenters.org.
