ok i have a question, i went to my ob appt lastweek my doctor said my cervix is still closed but i am 20% effaced, i am 33 weeks & 4 days along... if i start taking the EPO will it soften my cervix up faster and put me in labor to early? This is baby number 6 but i never took the EPO .... I obviously dont want to have him to early.. so my question is would it put me in labor now ?

Hi and welcome to MDC!

If you are 43 wks, I would say the EPO is a go.

If you are 33 wks, I would say use caution.  My MW had didn't have me use it til a bit later.  Perhaps another will come along with a different experience.

If you have already had 5 babies, I'm pretty sure the muscle memory is there!  I wouldn't be too worried about messing with nature.

Are you 43 weeks or 33?  I'm confused...I wouldn't use epo early on, especially not orally.  IF you're 40 weeks or over I've seen it work like a charm with a good dose of red raspberry leaf tea.  You don't have to put it on your cervix either, you can rub it on your thighs and lower abs - it absorbs quickly but doesn't tend to be as strong.  I have clients that have put it in the bath and soaked for a while with just a little of it in there - came out ready to go to the hospital.  With this being your 6th baby you may just want to wait though - your body knows exactly what it is doing and there may be a good reason for delay...such as fetal position?  Spinningbabies.com is a great resource for figuring that out.
