I just wanted to post something interesting that I found out. My baby's in the hospital for GERD right now. She has a very high b/p for an infant, it's either way high or borderline high depending on when they take it. The nurses observed that instead of a few main veins like most people have, she has small spiderweb-like veins. It may be related to her high b/p. They asked about my pregnancy. I had a difficult pregnancy with bedrest and terbutaline for 3.5 mos. When she was born she had a very small placenta. They said that with babies with small placentas they often see this kind of vein network because it's the fetus' way of compensating for lack of blood flow and still being able to grow.
