For me, birth is easy & it's letting them go, to grow that is painfull.

Breathing, rocking, moaning, pushing and grunting, then unspeakable joy and sweet relief.

Long and exhausting, not painful due to epidural, but confusing and frustrating as a result of the numbness

#2

Physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and maternally, excruciatingly painful and devastating.

Relief the wait was over, apprehensive of the unknown, amazed at my bodies ability to birth, fatigued by the hours of pushing, frustrated I was on dry land and overwhelmed with joy when my child was born.

I was 1-2 weeks over due, had been in prodromal labor for 2+weeks. This was my first child and from first "real" contraction to ready to push was only 4 hours and then I pushed for 4 more hours! I had to get out of the birth tub, and gave birth on my living room floor - oh well!

Not at all what I had in mind but in the end, a rewarding and not a traumatic experience.

Mama to DS1 (4/04) DS2 (HBAC 11/06) DS3 (HBAC 12/08) DS4 (HBAC 1/11). Wife to one handsome hard working DH.

Labor isn't nearly as bad as it's made out to be, but pushing sucks and boy does my butt hurt!
