I want to learn more about the history of childbirth, with special focus on the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Europe. I'd like to start with web-based research, as I no longer have access to a university library and would have to rely on the resources of the public library.

I've read For Her Own Good by Ehrenreich and English, which has some good stuff on the medicalization of childbirth and the beginnings of obstetrics. All the sites I'm finding with Google seem to have been written by people who had NOT read this book!

What are your favorite websites on the history of childbirth?

Divorced mom of one awesome boy born 2-3-2003.
