Hi everyone,

I have a short cervix, and with the baby dropping at 27 weeks, was at high risk of preterm labour.

I'm now in my 37th week (yippee) and was starting to wonder of any benefits of a short cervix. For example, I read this...

a short cervix, "may dilate much easier than a long cervix".

This is of course the problem, but can it be a benefit during labour? Might I dilate easier? Might the length of labour be shortened, other aspects being equal? I've googled but am only coming across the pre-term risks.

I had a short cervix from 5 months on, and was on bed rest. I delivered at 37 weeks, and it took 2 1/2 hours! so that is a huge benefit right! BUT, it was very painful until I got the epidural, and be careful, becuase my doctor told me to take my time getting to the hospital, but when I was examined about an 1 hour after my water broke I was already 7 cm dilated! good luck!
