I may be wrong but I feel that doing that would be horribly disrespectful to our country and the people who have died to protect it.
I'm ALL for hanging up black ribbons. Just not on our flag.
I'm just so disappointed right now. I'm glad I (accidentally) voted 3rd party. I wanted to vote green party but my choice wasn't on my ballot so I just chose 3rd. But I'm glad I didn't put any hope or faith in Kerry. I'm still shocked and sad for all who did though. What a huge disappointment he is today. I guess it boils down to another politician who never keeps his promises.
I mean no disrespect to those who have lost, are currently losing and will lose their lives because of this unnecessary war. The mourning is FOR them, not against them..and the intelligent among them will see it as such.
I have a black ribbon around my flag. I have officially declared my mourning to at least my neighbors.
Nothing altering or defacing the flag is ok in my mind. We are a military family and having an idiot for a boss for another 4 years is not comforting me or my husband. But as I said I just feel that it's wrong to disgrace the flag. Do watever you want. I wouldn't put any color ribbon on my flag. I may do as pam suggested and tie a black ribbon around the posts' on my front porch.
Yinsum, you have a point. I actually live in NJ, one of the more Kerry supporting states, but in a pretty conservative neighborhood. I have to think of my kids here, and adults can be pretty mean, passing that on to their kids.
I will take it off and hang it instead from my door. I do hope people get the message though.
I am wearing black, btw. It was actually a coincidence, but maybe it was subliminal.
Thats a wonderful idea a black ribbon and wearing black, but not for mourning. But to the fact that a tad more than half of America is blind. Their vision is not blurred but completely blinded to the road ahead. The road that is followed with blinders on. I'm going to pass this one on. Atleast some of us are aware to what really happened today. Hold your loved ones tight.
America is about to get what it asked for and I'm afraid its more than America can chew. It's more than I can stomach.
I would not put the ribbon on the flag. Not because of respect but out of fear- in this free country of ours a protest like that could cause you to wake up in a burning house. Hey I live in the south and I don't believe for one moment that would not happen.

That crossed my mind also. I live in South Central Texas. It's not a safe idea.
But mostly as I said before we are a military family and the flag holds meaning to us. That is symboic but i'd rather see it done in a way the disrespects Bush not our country.
