there are so many options. I have some Kissaluvs size 0, and some Crickets, & will be purchasing some prefolds in newborn size. What is a good cover for newbies?
I really liked our thirsties extra small covers. I used them with prefolds, and they fit until ds was about 2 months old (my kids aren't that big, but he was born over 8 lbs)
Three big girls (10) + (almost 9!);
One little boy (6) and a full on toddler (8/12) born with TAPVR (repaired at 6 days old).
I really like rumparooz newborn covers with snaps! I used kissluv fitteds with thirsties xs covers for my son and it worked wonderfully. The ONLY thing was that the thirsties velcro wore out pretty quick.
When my son was an itty bitty, we used Bummis Super Whisper Wraps with prefolds, Kissaluvs and fitteds (Mudshrimps). For my daughter, I LOVED Thirsties covers, both the standard covers and their Duo size one with aplix. They both fit well. I also really liked Mudshrimps one-size MINI covers, which have snaps.

Anything with leg gussets. If it didn't have gussets, we leaked like mad. My fave was the Imse Vimse, but the NB size was too big for my 8 lber, I needed the preemie size.

With our second child, we used thirsties as her newborn covers. I prefer (insist) on gussets.
Any suggestions on covers for itty bitty babies? Our girls were born at 8 + lbs each but this time around we will need something much smaller I think.
Mama to five, not 13. I just like pumpkins and thought that number would not be taken.
I love my thirsties for every size! They are super adjustable and the fit and gussets are just great (and they've held up to a lot of abuse).
My DD was born pretty small (6 lbs 1 oz) and the thing that fit the best right at the beginning was a Bummis XS, which was for 5-8 lbs, I think. She grew out of it really fast, but it was nice to have for the first couple of weeks. The really small Thirsties were great, too, as long as we stuck the velcro as overlapped as it would go.
We also bought the green mountain diapers xs prefolds (the orange edge ones) and the combination of xs diapers and xs covers was great for a tiny baby...I can't imagine how swamped she would've been in just the small size, because these were already huge on her. She wore the xs stuff until she was maybe 7 weeks old and about 11 lbs.
