My DD is 2.5 and has been out of dipes for a week or so and is only wearing undies or Flip trainers. She is most consistent with pee and is having a poop accident every other day or so (I think the Flip trainers feel too much like dipes to her and is confusing). What I am wondering is how I should deal with the trainer inserts and undies that fell victim to the poop accidents, now that I am no longer doing a whole diaper washing routine. Do they get tossed in with the laundry? It seems like such a waste of water to run a cycle with just 2-3 things in it.

Mama to a sweet little redheaded girl, born 11/09; and my HBAC baby, little brother, born 7/12.
When I've had just a few accident undies/trainers -- I would soak them (often with some Dr.Bronner's TTO soap, or regular liquid detergent), rinse well, and toss them in with towel/rags laundry.
I think just washing them out beforehand and then tossing them with regular laundry is fine. Especially if it's mostly poop accidents. The main reason you don't wash diapers with regular laundry and detergent is because it will cause them to lose absorbency so that's not the big issue.
