I have been using cloth training pants on my 3 year old neice for a couple of months now, and have noticed that some of them constantly smell like pee, despite washing them several times. Its mostly the ones that have a waterproof cover to them (Gerber brand). I have tried soaking them with a little bit of lavender oil, but it hasn't helped. I always soak the training pants before I wash them, so they don't get a lot of stains on them.
Anyone else have this trouble? What did you do to get them to stop stinking so much after washing?
It might be detergent buildup. I would recommend some Bac-Out, or some oxygen bleach followed by a wash with nothing but hot water, and perhaps an extra rinse.
Good luck! Getting rid of that smell can be a tough one!
