I have yet to CD a newborn, I started my DS when he was 6M, now we have his little brother on the way.
As of right now I have 20 OS pockets, 30 inserts. I was told it's miserable with NB because they leak. Have y'all also had trouble with OS not fitting your newborns and leakage?
My kiddos tend to run super chunky, so naturally I thought my son on the way would fit.
What's a budget friendly way to CD a newborn until he's just big enough for the pockets? I love covers and prefolds! I was thinking about that as an alternative, but how many prefolds would I need until then?
Thank y'all in advance!!
OSFA nappies don't usually fit a newborn, because of their skinny legs. It usually takes a couple of months for babies to fill out enough to fit them The best thing I have found, pre-weaning, is 50cm bamboo squares, with a well fitting wrap. A 2 part system at this stage is much more efficient than a one part nappy, and not difficult to fold, once you've done a few.
They are a great fit every time, wash really well, and best of all dry really quickly - even bamboo. They are also a good economical option, as even when they are outgrown as names in their own right, they make great boosters and inserts for other nappies later on.
I've made a video of how to fold for a newborn.
