wipes and petroleum jelly

hi,
can anyone recommend a good brand for wipes?
also did anyone use petroleum jelly? our hospital recommended using it instead of diaper ointment on each fresh diaper. what do you think?
thanks,

We used Viva paper towels that we wet with water from a squirt bottle. For travel we use Babyganics. We've never needed to use diaper ointment. I don't see the point in using it every time unless the baby has a diaper rash. Petroleum jelly wouldn't let the skin breathe. I think some people use coconut oil for a diaper ointment. It's all natural and I believe it has other beneficial properties.

Try Ya Baby Sensitive Wipes. You can get them on Amazon.com. They're chlorine free, and excellent for sensitive skin.

I use cloth wipes (an old flannel sheet cut down into squares) that I dip in my own wipe solution (1 quart water, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 2 tablespoons Dr. Bronners baby soap; shake/stir to combine). If my baby's bottom starts looking a little pink, I'll use LuSa Organic's Booty Balm; it's nice and gentle and cloth diaper safe.

I use coconut oil for every diaper change to prevent diaper rash instead of diaper ointment. It is natural and safe.

I definitely would not use petroleum jelly. I didn't use anything for every nappy change. If they had a rash or looked a bit irritated I use pawpaw ointment (a non-petroleum based on now I know!) or sudocrem.

I use wash cloths. I would not use petroleum jelly, and definitely not at every change. Air that booty out! Only use creams as needed.
