CDing is going great, I'm still loving it after a little over 3 months. And the baby is starting to get ready for solids (still waiting for a few milestones yet). But that got me wondering...

Currently I use CPF and just plop them in the diaper pail nothing else. When starting solids do I need to start getting as much poop off as I can? I wash every other day. Also, I'm trying to make some fitted diapers, any difference in washing them? Was leaning towards lining them with suedecloth.

Thoughts please!

I would highly recommend a minishower. I bought one when my first dd was 2 and am still using it daily on my second dd who is now a toddler.

Yep, mini shower, I don't know what we'd do without it. My dd is formula fed so her poop has been stinky and staining all along. We have a diaper pail beside the toilet and we hose them off and plunk them in there. We wash every 2-3 days and we have NO issues with smell.

Will look into the mini showers, but if you couldn't get one, what other methods work?

I bought some disposable liners for when my baby starts getting solid poops.

My DS only poops once or twice a day at his age. Its usually fairly solid, in which case it rolls off into the toilet. If not, I just wrap it all up and stick it in the pail and wash the whole thing.

I haven't had any issues with "remnants" yet, and no stain issues yet.

I do it this way because I read about it on the Fuzzi Bunz web site. So far it's working very well for us (I love it when the lazy approach works!).

The idea of having to spray off a diaper doesn't appeal to me, so hopefully it continues to work...

The only problem I have had is that my DD's isn't exactly solid all of the time. Sometimes I get the smeared diapers. Suede cloth and Microfleece do help but you might still have to dunk and swish if you don't get a minishower of somekind. The other option is if your in the market for a new shower head and your shower is close enough to the toilet is to use the shower head over the toilet to rinse it off. (That's what my sister does.)

I just keep a bucket with a tight fitting lid beside the change table and shake the solid into it.
Then I just dump the bucket into the toilet. I put the diaper in the dry pale like I always have. I haven't had any problems with this method.

No minishower here. We use a combo of "methods"-- I have some rice paper liners which my husband uses, and also a spatuala (dediacated to that purpose only of course). Usually it just rolls right off, though. I have kept a dry pail without any problems to date (9 mths, 3 mths of solids).

We have a minishower, DS has those "peanut butter" poops about half the time, no amount of shaking would get rid of those. I've heard that the spatula/scraper thing will get a lot of it off, though, the rest will come off in the wash.

I use a pail liner in my pail so I don't have to wash out the pail every time.

DS has peanut butter poops with chunks of solids in it, so we can't just shake it off our FBs yet. I bought a sprayer from Walmart - it looks like the sprayer on your kitchen sink but it has a really long hose and attaches to your shower head. It was about $15. I use that to spray off the poopies and just drop the dipe into my dry pail. My pail is a Happy Tushies bag that hangs on the door knob, I just carry it into the bathroom whenever I need to spray off some poop.
