DS is 1 month old and has been allergic to wool since he was born. He gets red dots all over his stomach area when I put him in wool. Is there a chance he'll get over his allergy or should I pack all the wool away and look into my other options
It could be the chemicals he's sensitive to rather than the wool itself. Try organic wool! Specifically, I recommend undyed hand-knit organic merino. It is not at all scratchy and is completely chemical-free.
you could try acrylic instead. I don't think alot of WAHM offer acrylic instock but I doubt you'd be refused if you requested it for a custom. you'd have to wash them more often but you can toss them in the washed instead of hand wshing.
I agree that it must be the chemicals (superwash treatment). Most people who think they are allergic to wool are actually allergic to the chemical process that rids the natural lanolin content of the wool.
As PP said, try untreated organic wool. I really like LANA merino wool
