I've always just tri folded and put my pf's in a wrap, but I have some pull on wool covers that I use and love over my pf's with a snappi. I'm just wondering what is the best fold to keep those bf poos in?? I'm not bad at it, but always have some bulk at the leg openings and the other day, ds peed right out of the cover ! Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
TIA,
Anika

I rarely trifold. I love to snappi. I either do an angel wing fold or a bikini twist.

I second the jellyroll - but I also do a modified angel wing where i sort of fan out the front of it so there is less bulk

Thank you! I am pretty much doing the jelly roll, but i was pulling the front corners out as well, and I think that was making my legs gape a bit.

okay, so I tried the jellyroll and he pooped, and out the sides it came! It's just too bulky around his thighs. Now I've got him in the bikini twist, and I must say, it's a great fit and seems to be really tight around his thighs, so we'll see how that goes.
Thanks again!
btw, why would you pin instead of snappi? Is there an advantage once you get good at it? I wouldn't mind learning since I lose snappis like nobobdy's business and it's getting a bit expensive!

Newspaper fold (apparently it's also called the Cuff fold):

http://www.babysabode.com/Merchant2/...diaper-folding

http://www.thediaperhyena.com/newspaperfold.htm

It revolutionized my life, I swear. I had never diapered any baby prior to Darren, even with sposies, so the fact that this was a fold that held itself was a lifesaver.

Now, I'm "experienced" enough that I don't need to do the prefolding, I'm able to do an angel wing fold:

Angel fold is best for runny poos.

When they get bigger, the twist is my hands down favorite.

We did the snappi thing for about eight months -- once she got chunky, I had a hard time getting them to fit, and about then I had two really gross finger-gouging incidents (those teeth are sharp!). Plus I nearly killed a handnit soaker that way! I am very clumsy with the snappi, I guess.

We (husband and I) love pins now -- you can get a really tight, secure fit, get a longer wear time on the diaper ('cause you don't need to bring the sides so close together), and they're impossible for a toddler to remove by herself. After more than a year of use I've poked myself only once, and never poked her.

We use Dritz diaper pins with locking heads; the Gerber ones from Target were awful, dull and dangerous.

When putting it on like this: http://www.preemiechatter.com/prefolds.html

I was so excited when I learned about the jellyroll. It works great for my 6 month old dd but I'm still looking for the perfect fold for my toddler... I think I'm gonna give the newspaper hold another try.

I never could get the hang of the jelly roll, mine was always to loose around the leg openings! I use the newspaper. We used a snappi until we started solids and not we just lay it in the cover. If I know he is not going to poo (like right after a big one), I just trifold it.

LOVE the refresher in prefold folds! I could never get the jellyroll tight enough, but had lots of luck with the newspaper.

me too, but I also do the fold down excess fabric in the back since I have a girl, and I dont really "roll" the sides of the fabric in, it takes too much time, I just fold both sides of the front in, pull up then fan wings out and pull back up and snappi, sorry if that sounds confusing

So today i've been using the newspaper fold and it works great, although it seems like i need wider pf's maybe. Thanks for all the advice and links! This has really made a huge difference
Does anyone else actually really like changing diapers?? I really take great pleasure in getting a prefold nice and neat and then putting on a cute cover

I notice that too. We just started using premiums for our baby. He's 8 weeks and 13 lbs. I tried the newspaper fold after reading this thread and it seems like it wouldn't work for too long because there's only a little of the wing to attach to the front.

I do the angel wing fold, but I fold it down in the back. It seems less bulky that way. I've tried the jelly roll a couple of times, but I think I need more practice with it.

They are pretty big. I was starting to have a hard time fastening an infant size though, plus they were soaked at diaper changes (and I change at least every two hours). Last night was our first premium for an overnight. I did a twist and then trifolded an infant as a doubler. It worked really well!
