hey - i keep hearing ppl talk about these and am wondering how they work? i would think the pee would go right through the wool kinda like it does through the polar bummis. also, most of the soakers that i have seen are like panties, do you have to use pins of snappis, are they hard to get on a squirmy kid? and if they are hand knitted does it have to be a super tight knitter that makes them?

thanks!

Mama to Amelia - age 6

The pee doesn't soak through. You treat the wool with lanolin which is water repellent. The pee ends up soaking in the diaper instead of coming out of the cover. Plus wool can soak up liquid itself without leaking so if the diaper leaks it is contained by the cover. You can get wrap style wool. I prefer the pull on style. If you prefold you do need to pin or snappi it. I have seen both tight knit and loose knit. If you hold it up you can see some light through it but not too much.
