Well, it's winter and grey and yucky out and as a result my dipes are looking, well, gross. They looked wonderful all summer from being line dried in the sun. So what do you do about stains?? Should I be using a wet pail or pretreating or what? My wash routine is cold wash with vinegar, hot wash with a tbls of soap. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

you could soak in oxi clean. it's the only thing that I find that works. I wouldn't do it constantly but it works for the big stains.

Do you get any sun through a window?

I don't know where home is for you, we're in a rarely sunny snowbelt, but some days I still line day (along with all of my Mennonite neighbours who do it daily!) in the snow and chilly temps. I would stick 'em outside as soon as you see a lick of rays! Still works, even in the cold.

Homebirthing, homeschooling AP, gardening maniac running a working farm. No circ, no vax, no cable TV. EC'd and CD'd, tandem BF'd.  Cheese and soap making goat and child herder.

I'm in Wellington County, ON. It's funny I was just driving from my parents place the other day and saw a Mennonite farm with all the laundry on the line and thought "I really should try and hang the clothes out more often." But I swear there's only been 3 sunny days in the last month or two and they've been cooooooold:
I bought an all natural stain remover bar yesterday, so I'm gonna give that a try. And I will look for some oxy clean, I've never used it and try to get my dipes on the line the next sunny day.
Thanks for the suggestions.
